Program Learning Outcomes

With the successful completion of this program, students will be able to:

1. make interdisciplinary research within field
2. have a wide understanding and knowledge about the taught languages, cultures and history
3. recognize the problems emanated from the cultural and lingual differences, and improve problem-solving strategies
4. think analytically
5. apply national and international ethical standards in translation and language studies.
6. provide cooperation with the related sectors.
7. specialize either in translation or interpretation.
8. have self-awareness about the importance of the field for contemporary world and the role and identity of the translator/interpreter as an intercultural expert
9. have competence to use the latest translation and interpreting technology
10. have high lingual and communicative skills in both Turkish and English, and to be able to read, comprehend and translate the texts in third language
11. have efficient ellocation, diction and self-expression skills for a sufficent use of language
12. demonstrate adaptability to the evolving expectations and conditions of the sector.
13. develop the competence to become translators meeting the sector’s requirements and to influence sectoral demands.
14. have a wide knowledge of terminologies of specific fields in both languages
15. demonstrate proficiency in the terminology of multiple disciplines (e.g., Science, Social, and Health Sciences) and applies both English and a second foreign language, studied throughout four years, as source and target languages.
16. identify potential problems in the translation process and applies effective strategies to solve them.
